These past few days it may seem as if I have knitting ADD.  And I may have to agree.  This happens to me when I haven’t settled and committed to a project entirely.  Or when I’m coming off a failed project.  I have a tendency to flit about from pattern to pattern until I find one I’m completely satisfied with.

Another thing, is that I have a tendency to be attracted to the patterns that are beyond my level of knitting.  I am still a wet behind the ears knitter.  Sure I can do a few fancy things (read 4LC/RC cables) but that’s without using a cable knitting needle.  Anymore than that and I’m more likely to hurt myself.

I think I said this before, that I’ve ordered yarn from KnitPicks.  A beautiful green linen yarn and a silk blend raisin color yarn.  With the green yarn I have earmarked a lace shawl from Vogue Knitting and for the raisin color, I’m going to whip up my own blanket.  Now hear me out on this.  I think it’s a good idea for me because I plan on knitting it in sections.  The tiny herringbone is a bitch to knit.  Or at least with the yarn I was using it was a bitch.  But then again, I was trying to knit this pattern over 100+ stitches.  Not the smartest idea when I’m trying to see if I can even knit the darn thing.  So my new project idea is this.  I will knit small squares, probably 5″x5″ alternating the herringbone pattern and probably a stockinette stitch.  So I think the easiest way to do this is to knit the alternating pattern as a scarf and then do as many as I have enough yarn for and then stitch it together using Kitchener stitch.  That is my plan and hopefully it works out.

Another thing that has been on my mind is joining a knitting group.  I’ve heard of several that are on Ravelry or Yahoo.  I just haven’t had a chance to check any of them out.  But I think that joining one would help alleviate this manic mode I get myself into.  Plus, I attempted to crochet in the round yesterday to make these zombie like figures.  For awhile I was all impressed with myself.  I came bounding into the kitchen going “I knit a half circle!”  But when it came time to crochet the other half, I ended up with a strange oblong looking thing.  So there went my belief in crocheting in the round.  At least I figured out how to do the magic circle thing.

Ah, I also want to say I love bubble baths.  What does this have to do with anything?  Whenever I feel myself snapping at my knitting/crocheting, I leave the baby with my husband and fill up my tub with suuuuuper hot water and some kind of bubble bath from Bath & Body Works.  After 20-30 minutes of soaking (when it’s hot outside, a hot bath diminishes in comfort….but I stick it out), I emerge with a clear head and find that most things tend to click better afterwards.
