I was doing some more research on Etsy on whether or not I think it could be a good venue for me. The only question I had for Etsy (which I ended up e-mailing) was how the maintenance of inventory worked. I mean, could I put up items once they were finished, or did I have to have a continual stream of items being listed. So, in theory, could I knit a project for my shop once every two weeks and then put them up at the end of the month or if I ran out, could I take a month off to rebuild the supply? The answer is almost something that could or make my decision. Last night while I was trying to fall asleep I thought of something else I could add to the store which takes hardly any time at all. A month ago I was trying to decide what to do with the rest of my lace yarn. Everything I was imagining was turning out to be a royal pain in the ass. Then I found an (relatively) easy lace pattern and made a 3″ wide cuff that’s pulled together with a ribbon. It took maybe a morning to put together and all I need to do is block it so it doesn’t curl up on both sides. Just a thought though.
My socks are coming together. One is finished and the other is 2″ away from the heel. I definitely think I need to start practicing the toe up construction. It’s hard for me to gauge how much yarn I need to save for the heel to toe, so my socks have been on the shorter side and now I know I’m going to have a lot of this yarn leftover. Whereas if I do toe-up, I feel it will be easier to keep an eye on my yarn and note when I’ve gone through about half of it. Plus once I get to a certain point, I could just b/o instead of thinking ‘Crap, I still have 10 more rows to do and yarn left enough for 1’.
I am getting super antsy to knit up another purse. You’d think that would light a fire under me to hurry and get these socks done. But all it’s making me feel like doing is cursing the socks for taking up my time. 🙂 Okay, not really, but I do wish the socks would knit up quicker. Every time I think I’m making good progress, I measure my socks and sigh deeply.
And on a sidenote, it’s days like today where I wish we had a fireplace. Then I could sit on the couch and knit while watching the snow fly by here and there and have a fire next to me to keep me warm. Snow is my absolute favorite part about winter. Watching it fall, seeing how pretty it makes the trees and of course playing in it.
