So, there must be a secret for taking good pictures of knitting that I don’t possess. Anyhow, I took it upon myself to knit a swatch of Flirtation from Vogue Knitting and Cruller from Lion Brand Yarn. My pictures didn’t turn out at all to showcase the stitches so that’s why they’re absent. I definitely love hwo the Flirtation stitch turned out although I will have to tweak it quite a bit. First, I won’t be using dark brown yarn. The color makes it impossible to detect the cables. Second, size 9 needles were WAY too big for the stitch. So instead of a pretty cable, they turned out ginormous and kind of ugly. Good thing the pattern for my mittens call for a smaller needle and it will be easy to keep the cables under control and their will o’ the wisp look. The Cruller stitch I’m still undecided about. It looks really cool in the example, but when I knitted it…it just doesn’t look right. Of course, this could be because I attempted to knit two side by side instead of just one in the middle. Or it could be I only knit two full repeats of it and I’m not getting the full effect. Either way, I’m still sitting on the fence on this one.
I just checked my order from KnitPicks and it seems as if I won’t be getting my yarn ’til next Friday! Sad!!!! So I have a feeling I might be picking up some yarn this weekend to keep my hands occupied ’til then. 😀
